A Bumper Start to 2024 for Filming in Enfield

We’ve rounded up some highlights of the 2024 releases so far that visited the borough of Enfield for filming locations. From thrilling TV Dramas to Netflix Documentaries, here at the Enfield Film Office, managed by The Film Office we’ve provided all manor of locations for some fantastic projects. Trigger Point Treats us to a Tantalising New Season… 

Season 2 of this action-packed ITV Drama ‘Trigger Point’ starring Vicky McClure aired in January of this year. After it’s huge success and popularity of Season 1 gripping the nation, the series was renewed for a Season 2 again following the bomb-disposal team led by Lana (McClure), an Afghan war veteran and her team who risk their lives for the safety of the City.

The production shot on Connaught Avenue on street and inside a private residents. They filmed scenes involving police vehicles which naturally come with their own sensitivities for which we enlisted the invaluable help of the MET Police Film Unit who were on hand for public reassurance and maximised safety when filming with anything that may be deemed sensitive such as prop police cars, weapons, violence etc. Jacob Hughes-Rodgers, the Film Officer on the job said “We are always open to having large scale filming to the borough. It’s fantastic to engage in such complex and often delicate shoots, which can be demanding at times. Nonetheless, collaborating with the locations team was a delight, and we’re thrilled that this shoot went smoothly without any complications.”

Trigger Point also unit based at the superb Forty Hall Estate to facilitate their technical vehicles for this shoot. Not only is Forty Hall a great source of car parking / unit basing to productions filming in the borough, it is also an exceptionally versatile filming location itself with it’s Grade 1 Listed Jacobean Manor House including a wide variety of rooms, 79 acres of land and a range of historical sites & monuments.

Noel Fielding frolics in the forests of Enfield…

Apple TV paid a visit to Enfield and one of it’s greatest assets, Trent Park in the spring of last year to film scenes for new wacky comedy ‘The Completely Made-Up Adventures of Dick Turpin’ starring Noel Fielding in the titular role. The series follows Dick Turpin, a legendary British motorway robber and his band of misfits who embark on daring escapades, constantly evading the grasp of a relentless thief-catcher.

Filming took place within the woodland areas of the park with scenes featuring scenes including a horse and coach, a replica 18th century pistol and a witch! Trent Park makes for a fabulous filming locations given it’s great expanse of 413 acres with rolling hills, beautiful bodies of water and tree-lined avenues. You can get a slice of countryside from just within the M25 which is a very desirable trait for productions who are looking for a mix of rural and city locations.

Can I Tell You a Secret…

Netflix is known for it’s gripping documentaries covering topics from all across the zeitgeist. This time it’s reporting on three women’s lives who were changed forever when prolific stalker and cyber-criminal, Matthew Hardy, infiltrated their social media accounts. These 3 being only that of hundreds of female victims. ‘Can I Tell You a Secret’ delves into this chilling case.

Although Enfield has no connection to the case or the documentary, the Copperfield Mews Estate was selected as a location to recreate scenes of the stalkers arrest back in 2020. The production used the estate interiors and exteriors to film scenes of the police officers arriving and arresting the suspect.

Sweet Sue Delights the Borough…

‘Sweet Sue’ is a 2023 feature film about a woman reentering the dating world who finds herself drawn into a connection with a mysterious biker she meets at her brother’s funeral and whose son happens to be a prominent social media influencer.

The production filmed at Angel Community Centre, dressing the centre as a care home for the protagonist to visit her mother. The community centre is a fantastically versatile location, which council buildings such as town halls and community centres often are, that can be dressed as all manor of locations such as schools, prisons visiting rooms or doctors surgeries to name but a few.
