From heartwarming Christmas specials to iconic festive adverts, Enfield has quietly played a starring role in some of the UK’s most memorable seasonal moments. Over the years, its streets, parks, and landmarks have provided the perfect backdrop for snowy scenes, twinkling lights, and stories that capture the magic of the holidays. As we look back, these throwbacks remind us how the borough has helped bring Christmas cheer to screens nationwide.
Tesco Christmas Advert 2020
One of the standout festive campaigns filmed in Enfield was Tesco’s 2020 Christmas advert. The shoot captured a charming local feel, featuring a young boy playing in the playground at Albany Park, evoking the innocence and joy of the season. In another memorable moment, a character leans out from a barge boat to deliver a line straight to camera, adding a touch of humour and warmth. Behind the scenes, Tesco-branded vehicles can be seen driving along South Ordnance Road, grounding the advert in the borough’s familiar streets while showcasing the brand’s promise to keep Christmas moving during a challenging year.

Christmas Carole
Sky’s original drama Christmas Carole brought a modern twist to Dickens’ classic tale, with Suranne Jones starring as Carole Mackay—a sharp, Scrooge-like entrepreneur confronted by Christmas spirits, including the legendary comedy duo Morecambe & Wise to teach her the true spirit of Christmas. In 2022, the production transformed Edmonton Cemetery into a wintry wonderland for a pivotal burial scene, despite filming in the height of summer. The crew achieved a full snow dressing across the grounds, creating an authentic festive atmosphere that contrasted beautifully with the July sunshine, showcasing the magic and meticulous planning behind the scenes.
If you haven’t watched it yet we certainly recommend this festive treat! It can be streamed on Sky now and you can watch the trailer below!
JD Christmas Advert 2024
JD’s 2024 Christmas campaign took a heartfelt approach, focusing on the true meaning of the season—family. Filming scenes on Sandhurst Road and at Walbrooke House in Enfield, the advert stripped away the usual festive glitter to spotlight real moments of togetherness, from big family dinners to casual takeaways with close friends. Featuring familiar faces, the ad celebrated the idea that Christmas looks different for everyone, but at its core, it’s about being with the people who matter most. Against the backdrop of Enfield’s streets, JD delivered a message of warmth and connection that resonated far beyond the decorations.
